Ahmed Ali

Biography

Ahmed Ali is a Lecturer at the School of Nursing, Maldives National University, Department of Clinical Studies. He brings over 18 years of professional experience in nursing practice, clinical education, and higher education. His expertise spans critical care nursing, hemodialysis nursing, clinical teaching, curriculum development, and nursing education. 

Before joining academia full-time, Ahmed served at F. Atoll Hospital and later at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), where he progressed from Registered Nurse to Senior Registered Nurse and Clinical Nurse specializing in critical care. During his clinical career, he mentored nursing students, trained newly recruited nurses, and helped establish and support hemodialysis services in island hospitals across the Maldives. 

Alongside his clinical work, Ahmed has extensive teaching experience. Since 2015, he has served as an external practical examiner for the School of Nursing. He currently serves as a full-time Lecturer at the School of Nursing, Maldives National University, and coordinates the Advanced Certificate in Nursing programme. His responsibilities have included preparing study guides, assessment materials, and assignment guidelines.

Ahmed is committed to preparing competent nursing professionals through evidence-informed teaching, practical skills development, and student-centred learning. His academic interests include nursing education, critical care nursing, clinical skills training, and curriculum development. These interests are supported by his extensive clinical background and ongoing engagement in higher education.
