Mr. Mohamed Zaid, currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Health Sciences of The Maldives National University. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health Service Management and further pursued a Master’s degree in Primary Health Care Management.
Commencing his government service in 1998, Mr. Zaid began his career as a Community Health Worker at the Department of Public Health under the Ministry of Health. Following the acquisition of a diploma in Primary Health Care, he ascended to the role of a Community Health Supervisor. In this capacity, he undertook responsibilities for health centers and atoll hospitals across the country.
In 2003, Mr. Zaid transitioned to academia, joining the Institute of Health Sciences as a Principal Instructor. His commitment to education led him to serve as an Assistant and Associate Lecturer at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Beyond the academic sphere, Mr. Zaid played a pivotal role in the UNFPA Psychosocial Support Project as a community educator during the 2004 Tsunami, showcasing his dedication to holistic health approaches.
Having served as a former Senate member of The Maldives National University, Mr. Zaid held the position of Head of the Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences from 2021-2022. He currently holds the dual roles of being a member and the President of the Maldives Allied Health Council, along with chairing the Council Trust Fund.
As a Senior Lecturer, Mr. Zaid looks forward to continuing his contributions to the academic and professional growth of students, maintaining a focus on service, education, and leadership in the field of health sciences.
