Mohamed Zaid is the Head of the Department of Public Health at the Faculty of Health Sciences, The Maldives National University (MNU), and a Senior Lecturer with over two decades of experience in public health, primary health care, health systems management, and health workforce development. He holds a Master of Primary Health Care Management from Mahidol University, Thailand, and a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Health Service Management. Throughout his career, he has held academic, research, consultancy, and leadership positions within the health sector. From 2015 to 2025, he served as a Member, Vice President,
and subsequently President of the Maldives Allied Health Council, contributing to the regulation, professional development, and advancement of the allied health workforce in the Maldives. His areas of interest include primary health care, health systems strengthening, epidemiology, health service management, and public health research. He teaches epidemiology, research methods, ethics, health service management, and primary health care, while actively supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research and leading research initiatives focused on strengthening health systems and improving population health outcomes in the Maldives.
