Biography

Aminath Zifna serves as the Lead Instructional Designer and Lecturer at the Centre for Educational Technology and Excellence (CETE) at The Maldives National University. In her role, she spearheads the training unit at CETE, emphasizing the development and enhancement of educational programs through innovative instructional design and delivery methodologies. Zifna’s expertise lies in blending traditional face-to-face education with modern e-learning techniques to create robust educational experiences.

As a leader in the CETE training unit, she is responsible for designing, implementing, and fine-tuning courses that aim to improve learning outcomes through a strategic mix of online and classroom-based education. Furthermore, her role involves elevating the skills of both existing trainers and students, ensuring they are well-equipped to thrive in a dynamic educational landscape. Her research endeavors primarily focus on enhancing self-regulation among e-learners—an essential skill for success in online learning environments. Her dedication to this area has enabled her to offer insights and strategies that support student autonomy and motivation. By presenting her findings at numerous academic conferences, both locally and internationally, she has contributed to the broader educational discourse on e-learning and student support systems.

After achieving her Master of Education in 2013, Zifna embarked on her doctoral journey at the University of Sains Malaysia. Her Ph.D. research delves into the intricacies of student support in e-learning environments, aiming to uncover effective ways to assist learners in overcoming challenges unique to digital education settings. Her ongoing Ph.D. study reflects a commitment to understanding and improving the components that underpin successful e-learning experiences.
