Biography

Mr. Mohamed Haleem is an accomplished technical professional, academic, and former Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) technical expert with more than 23 years of service and experience in electrical, mechanical, electronics, power generation, water supply, renewable energy, and technical operations.

Mr. Haleem began his academic association with the Maldives National University (MNU) as a part-time Lecturer in 2023. Following his dedicated service and contribution to academic activities, he was appointed as an Associate Lecturer in 2025. After completing one year in this role, he took on responsibilities as a Laboratory Technologist in the Faculty of Engineering Science & Technology (FEST) at MNU, where he currently plays an important role in the operation, maintenance, and effective management of engineering laboratories.

Mr. Mohamed Haleem holds a Master’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, with a specialization in Electrical Engineering, from the Indian Navy Ship Valsura, Jamnagar, India, completed in 2007. Prior to that, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering through the College of Military Engineering (CME), Pune, and the Military College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad, India, in 2003. He also holds a Diploma in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from CME, Pune, completed in 1996.

Professional Experience

Mr. Mohamed Haleem has over four decades of professional experience, including approximately 23 years with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), where he specialized in electrical and mechanical systems, power generation, water supply, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical management across various islands.

From 2008 to 2010, he served as the Electrical and Engineering Officer aboard the Coast Guard ship Ghazee, gaining valuable experience in marine engineering and technical operations.

He has also contributed to renewable energy and sustainable development. In 2003, he received a Best Project Award during his degree studies in India and later developed a pilot wind-energy project on Girifinolhu, which was recognized in connection with the Maldives’ carbon-neutrality efforts in 2010.

In 2013, he served as Project Manager for the reclamation of approximately one hectare of land at Uthuru Thilafalhu, further strengthening his experience in project coordination and infrastructure development.

Currently, Mr. Haleem serves as a Laboratory Technologist at the Faculty of Engineering, Science & Technology, Maldives National University, where he supports laboratory operations and practical engineering education. His multidisciplinary expertise and extensive field experience make him a valuable contributor to engineering education and technical training.
