Hassan Waheed, ACMA, CGMA is a finance and economics professional with extensive experience across academia, government, and the tourism sector. He holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) in Finance from International Islamic University Malaysia, where he was recognized as the Best Student in Finance at the IIUM Convocation 2006 under a Villa Scholarship, earning the Qasim Ibrahim Award for Excellence (2006). He also earned an MBA in Finance with Distinction from Open University Malaysia, receiving the University Book Prize (2012) and the Qasim Ibrahim Award for Excellence (2012). With over a decade of accounting experience, he has been a credentialed Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA, UK) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA, USA) since 2017.
Currently, he lectures in business, management, economics, and accounting at MNU Business School (Thinadhoo Campus). His core areas of expertise include finance, governance, tax policy, and economic research.
Throughout his career, he has held key leadership positions, including President of the Privatization and Corporatization Board at the Ministry of Finance, Financial Controller at Eriyadu Island Resort, and Director at the Ministry of Finance for a decade. Additionally, he served on the Board of Directors of the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) for nine years, including five years as Deputy Chairperson.
