Mariyam Ifshan Ahmed is a Lecturer in the Department of Behavioral Sciences at the Faculty of Health Sciences, The Maldives National University. Ms. Ifshan holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and is currently the course leader for the Master of Science in Psychology programme. She is also a practicing licensed Psychologist, which helps her integrate academia into real-life settings, making her role as a lecturer more valuable for students. Ms. Ifshan is broadly interested in identifying mental health challenges and promoting mental well-being among individuals and the community. She is currently doing a research to find the effectiveness of individual therapy verses group therapy in treating people with anxiety among people living in Male’, Maldives.
Ms. Ifshan also has four years of experience working in the program area at Maldivian Red Crescent, mainly coordinating and implementing health programs such as, mental health psychosocial activities in various communities. She has a keen interest in increasing community awareness on mental health and has completed consultancies with well-established organizations such as UNICEF, Maldivian Red Crescent, and WHO.
