PROMISE Sustainability Awards: PROMISE intends to recognize the sustainable best practices of Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from the tourism sector under Work Package 3 on Conceptualisation and Initiation of a Zero Waste Alliance. Around 30 applicants from Maldives, Sri Lanka and India were considered for the Sustainability Awards, and an expert panel will be identifying two winners from each target country.
The event is scheduled to coincide with World Oceans Day this year, 8th of June 2022, 08:30PM at The Maldives National University. The theme for PROMISE Sustainability Awards 2022 is “Innovative Waste Reduction Initiatives”.
About Project Promise: Prevention of Marine Litter in the Lakshadweep Sea (PROMISE) is a 4-year project (2020-2024) supported by the European Union (EU) under the SWITCH Asia Programme that emphasizes sustainable consumption and production in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The project activities target tourism clusters located along the Lakshadweep shorelines of the Maldives, Sri Lanka and India. It aims to prevent the leakage of waste from land-based sources into the Lakshadweep Sea in line with the Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) approach.
