Shimna Shakeeb has been serving in the education sector at different levels since 2000. She joined The Maldives National University in 2014.
She is a AUSAID scholar and presently she is pursuing her PhD in the area of English Language Teaching and Learning Design at University of Sains Malaysia. Her research interests include, outcome-based pedagogy, critical reflection, instructional design and blended/online learning. She has presented research papers in international conferences held in Indonesia, Shanghai and the Maldives. Her most extensive research was based on identifying factors influencing student achievement in a Blended Learning Context.
In addition, in 2020, she published a research based on Remote Online Teaching (ROT) in higher education in the Maldives context in response to COVID 19 pandemic. During her time at Aminiya School (from 2000-2011) as a teacher and Leading teacher, she headed the Chemistry Department and the English Department. During her career as a lecturer/teacher, she has conducted several professional development trainings for school teachers and lecturers in the area teaching and learning and curriculum design.
She is currently the project coordinator/manager of the AMED Project (Advancing higher education in Maldives through e-Learning development) at MNU. Her specialized areas include; English Language. English Literature, Teaching and Learning in Higher education,
