On Monday, 9 December 2019, this year’s Global Human Development Report “Human Development Report 2019: Beyond income, beyond averages, beyond today: Inequalities in human development in the 21st century” was released by UNDP. The report goes beyond the common discussions of income-based inequality, to also consider inequalities across the globe in other dimensions such as health, education, access to technologies, and vulnerability to economic and climate-related shocks. UNDP in the Maldives partnered with the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure, Maldives, and the The Maldives National University for the National Launch of this report.
The Launch event was followed by a panel discussion on the broader themes of inequality addressed in the report and how it relates to the Maldives context.
