General Orientation for 2017 Term 1

DSC_1651General Orientation for 2017 1st Semester was held on 22nd January 2017. The first session was held at 9AM, while the second session was held at 1:30PM in the Foundation Auditorium. The students were first greeted by our Vice Chancellor, Dr.Ali Fawaz Shareef. Next up was a speech by Deputy Vice Chancellor, Aishath Shaheen regarding the philosophy of MNU. She also talked about the University’s goals and rules. She encouraged the students to make the most of their time at MNU to learn by taking responsibility of their learning and to enjoy life here at MNU.

The next speech was given by the University’s Registrar, Saudulla Ali. He talked about the services provided from Student Administrative Services, which includes admission, registration, and graduation among others. Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Muaviyath Mohamed then gave his speech about the Course Fees. He explained the University’s Course Fee Policy to the students, which can also be found on our website under the “Downloads” section. He then showed the students how to check their course fees on our website, before ending with a reminder that the due date for paying the course fee was 9th February 2017.

Dean of Students, Nadhiya Ahmed gave the next speech. As the head of Student Support Services, she gave a quick introduction of some of the works our Student Support did. They include MNU Scholarship, Accommodation, MNU Gym, Counseling, and Academic Support. They also work closely with The Maldives National University’s Student Union to ensure students enjoy their time here. Before she ended, she quoted Mahatma Gandhi, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever”. It’s certainly a quote all our students should remember during their time here.

After our Librarian, Aishath Shabana explained some of the services provided from the MNU Library, our Student Union President, Ali Rasheed gave a speech about the works they did. They also gifted a book and a pen to every student who attended our orientation.
