6 Students participated in the JENESYS 2018 ‘2nd Batch’ Program

Six students from The Maldives National University has taken part in the JENESYS: Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths, held from 21st January to 29th January in Tokyo, Japan.

This program was conducted by Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) under the guidance of the Japanese Government. The objectives of this program is to promote participant’s capacity building in a manner that would be conductive to the development of the SAARC member countries, promote mutual trust and understanding among the people of Japan and countries, regions to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation and promote a global understanding of Japan’s society, history, diverse culture, politics, economics and diplomatic relations. And also, present a true and accurate image of Japan by disseminating information on Japan through participants

After a lecture on understanding Japan, students were able to visit and observe cutting-edge technologies at universities, research institutes, corporations, museums, etc. The program also included visits to local industries and the students were able to exchange opinions related to the industry. Afterwards, all the participants were able to bond with other students at a School Exchange program (exchange contact, build friendships). Furthermore, participants were able to experience Japanese life style by staying at ordinary Japanese homes. Participant also exchanged their own cookeries for hosting families.

The last component was a Maldivian Cultural farewell for the host families. And the journey ended in Tokyo with a reporting session on action plan about what the participant will do after returning back home.
