On the occasion of the globally celebrated teacher’s day, a colorful and festive ceremony was organized and held today by the student association of the Maldives National University’s Faculty of Education.
The event was held at the faculty’s ground arena, with the university’s Vice Chancellor Dr. Ali Fawaz Shareef as chief guest, who addressed the crowd in attendance. He remarked that teachers are those who ultimately build a nation and the world at large, and that while today was marked as teacher’s day, every day can truly be seen as teacher’s day, because the work of teachers go on 24 hours every day.
At this even organized by the Faculty of Education’s student association to celebrate teacher’s day, the faculty’s lecturers, support staff as well as key administrative and management were given commemorative tokens of appreciation. Furthermore, a special celebratory cake was also cut, along with other items such as the deliverance of a special song, and poetry prepared by the students to mark the occasion. Additionally, a lucky draw was held among the lecturers, with attractive prizes sponsored by Hotel Jen by Shangri-La, Somerset Hotel, Dhiraagu, SeaHouse, Burger Point and EuroMarketing.
The Faculty of Education specializes in the training and development of those interested in serving the education sector of the nation, and have produced 200 such graduates in just this year alone.
Faculty of Education aside, Teacher’s day was celebrated throughout the other faculties and campuses of the Maldives National University as well.
