In accordance with the student scholarship scheme, 24 students who scored the highest academic results among the applicants were awarded scholarships for term 2 of 2016. The scholarships were awarded today at a special ceremony held at the Maldives National University.
Under the scholarship scheme, 24 scholarship opportunities were provided at 3 levels for newly enrolled students joining their respective programs in Term 2 2016. The scheme is composed of 20 tuition fee free scholarships, 2 scholarships for undergraduate and 2 scholarships for postgraduate levels. A total of 46 students applied for the tuition free scholarship while 18 students applied for the 2 undergraduate scholarships, and 6 students having applied for the 2 postgraduate scholarships.
The minister for legal affairs from the President’s Office Al Uzthaza Aishath Azima Shukoor was the chief guest of the ceremony, and spoke to the awardees on the importance of exhibiting professionalism and discipline ‘at in their fields, no matter what field they study at, or no matter how accomplished their academic results are. She also advised them to be courageous and possess the positive competitive spirit as they go on to the ever competitive working environment.
The Maldives National University in recent years has made openings for such scholarship opportunities based on the two intakes in the academic year.
